True story: Driving Miss Daisy was based on Bill Russel giving Red Auerbach a ride to practice a couple of times.

Also Bill Russel is God.

From Jesse Blanchard of 48 Minutes of Hell.

Anybody who watches Brooklyn Nets games knows this is painfully true *cough* 39% on field goals *cough*

Oh excuse me, I’ve got a touch of the flu *cough* 30% from three *cough*

Oh dear, I can’t seem to shake this *cough* 81% of free throws *cough* 17 PER *cough* Not bad, just overrated *cough cough*

Today is the youngest you will ever be, live like it !

Mark Cuban (via mcuban)

Can’t guarantee he’ll ever say anything of interest —yeah, right— but let’s all give the Mavs owner, Mark Cuban, a warm welcome to Tumblr, as well as a follow, shall we?

Mark Cuban just quoted himself on his Tumblr. Someday, I wanna be that kind of rich. The kind of rich where you’re still plugged into normal society and are aware of the world around you, yet are just crazy and eccentric enough to make it clear you’re special.

Oh magazine covers. Will you ever not be racist and/or sexist all the fucking time?

BAH GAWD IT’S ISIAH THOMAS! HE’S COME TO RUIN THE RAPTORS FRANCHISE, HERE ON MONDAY NIGHT RAW!

DAMMIT! DAMMIT TO HELL!

This clip also serves as evidence as to how great/terrible/ridiculous Inside the NBA is. Why are Barkley and Shaq wearing swimcaps? I don’t know. Why are they just sitting around and laughing at twitter? I don’t know. But it’s wonderful stuff.

nbaoffseason:

Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe retired this past weekend. There is so much to say about this man, his career in sports journalism, and what he has meant to NBA fans, that it’s truly impossible for me to do his career any justice with my limited ability.

It is not an exaggeration to say that he is a living, breathing NBA encyclopedia. He has probably forgotten more about the league’s history than the rest of us pecking away at our computers will ever learn. As an example of that fact, here is Bob, before an episode of PTI back in March, breaking down the 1972 NBA draft, 40 years later, as if it happened just last moth.

An amazing legacy & an even more amazing writer. Thank you, Mr. Ryan.

I agree whole-heartedly, except he hasn’t forgotten more about the league than we’ll ever learn, because HE HASN’T FORGOTTEN ANYTHING

nbaoffseason:

Look at these [disgusting] Knicks fans.

This is inexplicable. For how “devoted” these particular Knicks fans are, you’d think they’d actually pay attention to why he wasn’t coming back.

They’re following the wrong narrative, or perhaps creating it. The story isn’t that Lin isn’t coming back. The story is that the Knicks aren’t bringing him back. The ball was in the Knicks court, and they double faulted. Want proof? Here, have the words of Jeremy Lin himself:

“Honestly, I preferred New York.”

There. Discussion over. Jeremy was just doing what every free agent in the fucking world does, which is consider his options. That contract will net him a lot of money, more than he’s ever seen. But the money’s not the issue. We can bark all day about what Lin’s true talent is, but his basement ain’t as low as some seem think.

It’s what he meant to New York, what he meant to the Knicks. He’s somebody who you can get excited about, no strings attached. A guy who can make his name in this city. Sure you picked him up as a free agent, but there were no expectations for this young man. So when he blew up for the first time in New York, he was doing it as a Knick. That’s a special thing to see.

While it’s hard to pick which is the most revelatory, the fact that New York’s brass had “spoken to [Lin] and his representatives only once this month” before a brief phone call from general manager Glen Grunwald late Tuesday night to confirm the team’s decision and wish him luck seems like a pretty instructive bit of information

Read into that however you like. The New York Knicks front office, James Dolan in particular, let Jeremy Lin leave. They sent him away. If they had shown interest in Lin, you gonna tell me Jeremy would still be going to Houston right now? Lin should’ve been priority one, and instead he wasn’t even considered. If you got hate, hate James Dolan. Hate Glen Grunwald. Hate free agency. Hate money. Hate business. But don’t hate Jeremy.

Kobe shot only 20% from the field in the 4th quarter; Ashton Kutcher tucked in only 20% of his shirt. Coincidence?

Well, that appears to be quite the… Butterfly Effect
